Day 3 - The
Karlstejn Castle tour
Saturday . . . woke up late! We managed to book the Karlstejn Castle tour. Walking again! We had an uneventful drive to the castle. Interesting tour to the oldest castle in Prague. No pictures were allowed inside. Quite a few stairs to climb. (Been practicing for the stairs at work for the last 2 months and it paid off!)
The return trip was a different story. The tour guide appeared to be on drugs and was actually drinking beer on the bus. The uproar began when one of the other tourists walked back to where the bus let us off but the bus had moved to a different parking lot a few miles away. When we got to the bus, everyone on the bus was calling for the bus driver and the tour guide to return back to the drop off point and look for him. Neither spoke much english! The tour guide agreed to go back. After about 5 minutes of driving we realized we were not going back. They left the guy at the castle. Everyone on the bus started talking to the tour guide to find out why she wouldn't go back and get him. No explanation. She wouldn't even call back to he castle office because she said it would cost too much on her cell phone. (must not have Verizon). Anyway, all ended well. The guy took a cab from the castle back to his hotel. The couple is from Arizona, the wife called us at the hotel to let us know he made it back. I video taped the bus ride . . . at one point the driver purposely slammed on brakes and everyone screamed! Rather tense moments . . .
Czech please! oops! I mean " the bill please" . . . had a late dinner around 10:00 pm. We were tired and went back o the hotel. The weather being in the 50's allowed us to sleep with the windows open. Not a good idea on Saturday night as the city has a heck of a night life. The bars are open until 5:00 am. Loud partying all night.
